Now more than ever, women are turning to the online space for information and support. I am so very proud to be part of an incredible virtual support community, #BCSM (breast cancer social media). #BCSM is the longest-running cancer support community based on Twitter, and was co-founded in 2011 by breast cancer survivors Alicia Staley and Jody Schoger (who died due to metastatic breast cancer in 2016). Involved from nearly the beginning, I was invited to participate as a co-moderator in late 2011. Our weekly tweetchats attract participants from around the world, and topics range from various aspects of survivorship to medical meeting summaries and everything in between.
